Launching in Switzerland

What matters, when it matters.

Your pregnancy, week by week: what's happening, why, and what to get ready. After the birth, the same app stays with you through the early years, shared with the people you choose.

Your week, explained

Week 22

Every week you get three short sections: what's happening with your baby, what the pregnancy can change in your body and your mood, and what's worth knowing in Switzerland. Read the short version or the longer one, as you like.

The baby

Hearing is fully developed. The buds of the milk teeth are forming under the tooth ridges.

The body

Stretch marks, backache and sleep problems are often described this week.

Good to know

Maternity leave runs 14 weeks from the birth, at 80 percent of earnings up to CHF 220 a day.

This month, explained

7.5 months

Milestones as time windows, never as tests: what many babies go through around this age, from the first teeth to changes in sleep.

  • Lifts their arms to be picked up

Without a word, many babies now say clearly what they want: arms up means pick me up.

  • Standing alone without holding on

Standing alone without holding on shows for many children between the sixth and the seventeenth month. No other big movement milestone has a wider window.

  • Is wary of new people

Around this time many babies become shy with people they don't know, and look for you. In some it is very clear, in others barely noticeable.

Record a feeding, a sleep or a diaper with one hand. The sleep timer keeps running on your phone's lock screen, and the statistics add it all up.

What to get ready, and what can wait

Everything is sorted by week, and the list opens at what's due now, so what can wait stays out of the way.

  1. Find a midwife early. Many are booked up months ahead.earlier
  2. The first and the second ultrasound, and when each one is due.earlier
  3. A birth preparation course. Basic insurance pays a contribution toward it.now
  4. The hospital bag, and what many people pack in it at about week 34.later
  5. Health insurance for your baby: register within three months of the birth, and the cover is backdated to the birth.later
  6. Registering the birth, and applying for the maternity allowance and for the allowance for the other parent's leave.later

When the baby's here, everything comes with you

You stay in the same app, and it changes with you. Once you log the birth, the pregnancy stays in your Timeline, next to everything that comes after.

The Timeline in BetterBaby+, with the pregnancy and what came after

Your pregnancy in one app instead of many places

During a pregnancy, a lot ends up in different places. BetterBaby+ brings it together and carries on into the early years. What you've noted is there when you see your midwife.

  1. A week-by-week appWhere you are this week and today, what's happening, and a short sentence for each day.
  2. The checklist someone emailed youWhat to prepare, week by week, including the hospital bag. You can add your own items.
  3. The shared shopping listWhat the baby needs, including anything borrowed or passed on to you.
  4. The appointment calendarAppointments with your midwife and your doctor, with your questions, a reminder the day before and an entry in your calendar.
  5. Your photosA bump photo each week if you like, with a reminder as often as you choose, and moments on the days you want to keep.

The early years in one app instead of many places

With a baby, a lot ends up in different places. BetterBaby+ brings it together.

  1. The baby trackerFeedings, sleep and diapers, logged by anyone in your household.
  2. The photo albumMoments with photos and short clips, from the days you want to keep.
  3. The grandparents' group chatPeople who follow you see the moments you share, and which week or month you're in.
  4. The shared noteAppointments with your questions, and lists everyone in your household can check off.
  5. The milestone bookFirst smile, first steps and growth, each kept with its date. The Timeline shows what's coming next.

The plus is your people.

BetterBaby+ is yours first, and it works just as well if it stays that way. When you like, add the people you choose.

Someone in your household

A partner, a co-parent, someone who helps every day. They see and add to everything: the lists, the appointments, the logs.

Someone who follows

A grandparent, a godparent, a close friend. They see the moments you share, and never the logs.
